Safe Use of Chain Hoists

OBJECTIVES

The aims of this course are to give participants the necessary basic knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training to safely and effectively manage lifting and moving operations through the use of chain hoists, lever hoists, & electric motor hoist.

This training course is designed to meet the requirements for training in line with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER 1998) and Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER 1998) for safety in the use of hoists and provide delegates with the knowledge and ability to perform hoisting operations safely.

CONTENT

After Completion of the course the delegate will have achieved skills and basic knowledge about:

  • The hazards and risks associated with the use of chain hoists, lever hoists, & electric motor hoists.
  • Inspection and use of hoists.
  • Essential slinging procedures for safely lifting loads.
  • The importance of machine maintenance.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

There are no formal admission requirements though the course is recommended for:

  • Operators and supervisors working with chain hoists, lever hoists, or electric motorised hoists.
  • Personnel working in building, construction, fabrication, general engineering, automotive workshops and maintenance departments.
  • Anyone currently operating this machinery or with a desire to learn to do so safely.

COURSE DURATION

Safe Use of Chain Hoist training course – Half Day

Usually paired with ‘Safe Use of Abrasive Wheeled Tools’ training to make a full day.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

During training delegates are expected to provide their own Safety Boots!

All other PPE will be provided.
